Walking the shoreline at low tide costs nothing and always turns up something interesting. Shells, sea glass, driftwood, sand dollars. The beach after a storm is especially productive for beachcombing. Strong waves bring up items from deeper water.

Early morning before other beachgoers pick through the tide line gives you the best selection. Bring a mesh bag or bucket. Common finds include coquina shells, whelks, moon snails, and occasionally intact sand dollars.

Stargazing and Sunset Watching

Sunset over the Gulf is free every single evening. Crystal Beach faces south and west, so you get a direct view of the sun going down over the water. The colors shift for about 30 minutes and on good nights the sky turns shades you don't see in the city.
