Is Free Beach Camping Actually Allowed?

The short answer: it depends and it changes. Galveston County manages the beach rules on the Bolivar Peninsula and regulations have shifted over the years. At various times, overnight beach camping has been allowed in certain areas, restricted in others, or required a county permit.
